LaDainian Tomlinson interview transcript 12/9/10

On Thursday LaDainian Tomlinson took the time to answer a few questions for the media.  Here is the transcript courtesy of the Jets.

On if he thinks more emphasis will be placed on the running game in the upcoming cold-weather games…

“I think we’re going to do what we do, obviously the things that we’re good at. That means we’re going to have to run the football and we’ll have to run it successfully. We definitely want to be able to let the run game set up our passing game, but we talked about it all the time. We want to be an all-weather football team, being able to run and pass it.”

On Coach Ryan wanting to start on offense if he wins the coin toss…

“I think that’s a good thing. I think for us to start the game right away on offense, I think it’ll be a great challenge for us. Obviously, we want to start fast. By getting out there first, I think that allows us to (start fast) because sometimes when you sit down first and you watch the defense, you do kind of (just) sit around. At the beginning of the game you’re ready to go, then you kind of sit around for a while, so it does take you away from that tempo a little bit. I think it’ll be a good thing.”

On what he thought about Coach Ryan’s burying the ball at practice…

“I thought it was fitting, as far as, the way we needed to look at that past game. I think the guys took it for what it really was, to put it behind you. You always remember it because it was such an embarrassing moment, but at the same time, we have to be able to let it go.”
