Jets Release Jerricho Cotchery

If fans have learned anything over the last couple of months it is that the NFL is a business.   The New York Jets are providing the fans with another reminder as on Thursday the team released wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery.  The classy receiver played 7 years with the Jets and was known for his work ethic, reliabilty, and leadership.  The move will save Gang Green approximately $1.8 million dollars in cap space.  The Jets are reportedly prepared to sign former Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason to replace Cotchery.  Mason, 37, is also a reliable receiver that is known for his toughness and leadership.

For many fans this is a tough pill to swallow as Cotchery emerged as a favorite over the years.  I have had the chance to meet Jerricho several times and you could not meet a classier guy than Mr. Cotchery.  Jerricho always took the time to interact with the fans and was actively involved in the community with his foundation.

Cotchery always “played like a Jet” and for that many fans will always be grateful.  I wish him nothing but success going forward.
