Aaron Maybin Signs With The Jets

Earlier today, the New York Jets signed free agent linebacker Aaron Maybin.  Maybin, who was a first round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2009, just cleared waivers after being released this week.   According to Dennis Wasak Jr. (Associated Press):

The former Buffalo Bills first-round pick agreed to terms Wednesday morning, passed his physical a few hours later and signed with the Jets — all in time to be on the field for his first practice with his new team. He says playing for Rex Ryan and the Jets is a perfect fit and he “didn’t want to play for anybody else.”

Maybin has drawn comparisons to ex-Jet Vernon Gholston because of his struggles on the professional level.  Like Gholston, Maybin has no sacks in the NFL.  How Rex Ryan will work him into the defense will be interesting.  The Bills said that Maybin dropped from 250 pounds to 228 pounds after coming down with pneumonia this offseason.  He is reportedly at 242 pounds now and practiced with the Jets today.

Here is some more information about Aaron Maybin from the Jets Nation forum.

I started JetNation in 2005 and have been a New York Jets season ticket holder since graduating from high school. My dream is to see the New York Jets win the Super Bowl. Until then, I will be right here on JetNation writing, dreaming and talking NY Jets football.
