Jets Waive TE Shawn Nelson

The New York Jets have waived/non-football illness TE Shawn Nelson. The announcement was made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Nelson (6-5/275/Southern Mississippi/Gonzales, LA) was signed by the Jets (10/31/11) and inactive for three games.  He was waived by the Buffalo Bills (09/03/11) after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list (12/14/10). Nelson was originally drafted by the Bills in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft (121st overall). He started 47-of-52 games at Southern Mississippi, catching 157 passes for 2,054 yards and 16 touchdowns.

I started JetNation in 2005 and have been a New York Jets season ticket holder since graduating from high school. My dream is to see the New York Jets win the Super Bowl. Until then, I will be right here on JetNation writing, dreaming and talking NY Jets football.
