Kristian Dyer: Little Change to Jets Projected win Total Following Adams Deal

NY Jets Helmet

Kristian Dyer of Sports Illustrated has some news for those Jets fans who think that trading Jamal Adams leaves the Jets far worse off than they were before sending him to the Seattle Seahawks.  Take a deep breath, it may not be that bad.

In a piece for SI, Dyer spoke with the folks with FootballOutsiders who dropped the Jets expected win total from 7.4 to 7.2.  That’s right.  Trading Jamal Adams has one of the more respected analytical folks in the business dropping the Jets win total by 0.2.  Hardly the end of the world.

Aaron Schatz of football outsider acknowledges the fact that the 7.2 estimate is conservative but says acquiring safety Bradley McDougald played a role in the negligible drop in projected wins.

“Adams wasn’t traded for nothing. He was traded for Bradley McDougald, who is probably a league-average starting safety. That’s a lot better than having to replace Adams with some scrub at the position”.
