Time for Gang Green to Reach out to Demaryius Thomas?

Yes, it’s only one practice missed by Denzel Mims who tweaked a hamstring in practice earlier this week, but having him miss any time at all puts the Jets lack of depth under a the magnifying glass.

Most observers expect Mims to claim the number two receiver spot behind Breshad Perriman with Vyncint Smit next in line.  And while there’s plenty of reason for optimism in the way Smith progressed last season, there is a very real need for a proven veteran on the roster and former Jet Demaryius Thomas could be the perfect answer.

While Thomas is nowhere near the player he once was, he was a solid option last season with the Jets (36/433/1) considering the fact that he played on an offense that couldn’t move the ball as Sam Darnold was playing behind a bottom of the barrel group of pass blockers.

With improved blocking and another year in Adam Gase’s offense, Thomas could be somewhat of a safety blanket for an offense that should be able to produce if everyone stays healthy, but could still use a veteran presence in the huddle.
