Born on July 22, 2000, Garrett Wilson celebrates his 25th birthday today. The former first-round pick has already established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Wilson’s elite route running, body control, and consistency helped him earn Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2022. He followed that up with another 1,000-yard season and, just last week, secured his long-term future in New York. On July 14, 2025, the Jets signed Garrett Wilson to a four-year, $130 million extension, with $90 million guaranteed. It was a historic deal, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in league history, and ensuring the Jets’ offensive identity revolves around their young star.
Vets Report to Camp
In recent seasons, July 22 has marked the reporting date for Jets veterans to training camp at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center. While rookies typically arrive a few days earlier, today is when the full team officially assembles and begins the grind toward the regular season. 2013 – The Jets signed QB Geno Smith to his rookie deal. While his tenure in New York was rocky, Geno eventually found success elsewhere and became a Pro Bowl QB in Seattle.
2019 – TE Ryan Griffin signed with the Jets. He quickly became a reliable target for Sam Darnold, leading to a contract extension that November.
