Justin Fields Falls Apart in Jets 30-10 Blowout Loss

And just like that, all of the good vibes Jets fans were feeling after a strong performance last week, Justin Fields came crashing back down to earth.  The quarterback followed up one of the best games of his career, with what was arguably his worst.

Fields would establish career lows in both completions and yards with 3 and 27 respectively, while also completing just 27% of his passes, which is also a new worst.

The Jets were a mess in all facets of the game on both offense and defense, but it started with Fields.  He missed several open receivers on what would have been big plays while also losing a fumble early on.  He would fumble again later but the Jets picked that one up.

As has been the case for many years now, the Jets were their own worst enemy in terms of penalties.  Michael Clemons had an early roughing the passer flag that kept a Bills drive alive that ended with a touchdown.

Sauce Gardner was also flagged for multiple defensive holding calls while Tony Adams drew a penalty for pass interference.

Aside from Fields’ play, the worst part of the day was the Jets run defense.  Buffalo’s James Cook ran it 21 times for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns with most of the damage coming between the tackles.

Justin Fields would leave the game early in the fourth quarter with possible concussion while Tyrod Taylor came on in relief and completed 7 of 11 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown pass to Jeremy Ruckert, marking the first score of the tight end’s career.
