New York Jets Moneyline vs. Panthers: +105 via DraftKings Sportsbook
Forget the spread, this week will end with the Jets celebrating their first win of the season, even without Garrett Wilson.
The Panthers are a completely different team on the road, and it’s a year-long trend. Their QB, Bryce Young, has a 1-17 career record on the road. Since he was drafted, the team is 2-20 as the visiting squad.
Looking at Carolina’s road performances this season, they’ve been outscored 95-45 in three contests. The defense is coughing up 6.2 yards per play away from Charlotte, while the Panthers’ offense only musters 4.6 yards per play.
It’s easy to look at the Jets’ body of work and be discouraged. However, they’ve faced four teams that seem playoff-bound and another with a top-three offense statistically. New York kept most of those games tight. A few of them were winnable.
The Panthers have the fewest sacks in the league. They struggle to throw the football. Carolina’s -4 turnover differential is among the NFL’s worst.
Winning isn’t easy in the NFL, but if the Jets are going to start winning games in 2025, this will be the week to get the ball rolling.
Jets vs. Panthers Total Pick: Over 41.5 (-110) via Bet365
Last week’s excursion to London was a much-needed and successful departure from the Jets’ run of overs. This week, the high-scoring trend will return.
The Jets’ defensive issues are well-known by now. Even after a strong performance last Sunday, they’re allowing the fifth-most points per game. New York has allowed at least 30 points every time they’ve played in MetLife this season.
The visiting Panthers are no strangers to high-scoring matchups either. Eight of their previous ten contests have gone over the total. That includes three straight games with more than 50 total points.
Even with a shutout to their name, the Panthers are coughing up 24.3 points per game, a mark that’s 21st in the NFL.
These have mostly been weak defenses, and that should shine on Sunday.
New York Jets Prop Bet of the Week: Breece Hall Anytime TD Scorer (-105) via Fanatics Sportsbook
Six weeks are in the books, and Breece Hall, amid the final year of his contract, has yet to find the end zone. For someone who seemingly wants to be traded or paid big bucks, he isn’t proving himself worthwhile right now.
There’s no Garrett Wilson, the heartbeat of the offense, on Sunday. Braelon Allen isn’t active to take touches away. The Jets don’t seem very interested in getting Isaiah Davis the ball.
Breece Hall needs to drive the offense forward on Sunday, and he has a golden opportunity.
Carolina allows 4.7 yards per carry and 128.7 rushing yards per game on the road. All five touchdown runs that the Panthers have allowed this season came in away games.
If Breece Hall doesn’t score this week, who knows when he’ll do it again.
