Kurt Warner Interested in Joining Jets as Consultant?

Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner has said in the past that he would welcome the opportunity to to work as a consultant if an NFL team came knocking.  And now it seems that he would be willing, quite surprisingly, to work with the New York Jets.

Asked point blank if he would have any interest in working with the Jets by podcaster Scott Mason of Play Like a Jet via (formerly twitter), and Warner didn’t keep on scrolling or say “no thanks”.  Instead, Warner saw the question posed by Mason and offered the idea a “like”.

The question was asked of course under the assumption that the Jets would be drafting a quarterback in this year’s draft as they currently own the third overall pick.  This could mean Gang Green adds either Fernando Mendoza, Dante Moore or Ty Simpson should the latter two declare for the draft.

Not longer after posing the question, Warner saw it and definitely didn’t say “no”.  As you can see in the tweet below, Warner showed up on the “liked” list.

Since retiring, Warner has stayed engaged with the game, offering commentary on live broadcasts and on occasion, via social media with film breakdowns from around the league.  With Warner not ruling out the possibility, Aaron Glenn, Darren Mougey and Woody Johnson should all be looking to add Warner as they look to finally find a signal caller after decades of failure.

And it doesn’t apply only to rookie draft picks.  If the Jets were to go out and add somebody along the lines of free agent Malik Willis in Green Bay, it would make Warner’s job easier in that he wouldn’t’ be introducing a QB to the NFL, but continuing the development that started several years ago.
