Joe Douglas’ former college roomate had some pretty pointed words for the New York Jets as NFL draft analyst Todd McShay took to his podcast and claimed that come draft time, nobody wants to be selected by the Jets. McShay started his rant by saying Oregon quarterback Dante Moore should look to avoid landing with the Jets come draft time.
He would then go on to expand that to the entire draft class. Unless you grew up rooting for the Jets, said McShay, you do not want them to take you in this class.
Here’s the thing though…is Todd McShay wrong?
Sure, his personal relationship with Joe Douglas is likely driving his willingness to publicly trash the Jets in this manner, but what appeal do the Jets have at this point in time that would make a young quarterback want to come here? They have a defensive minded head coach, an unproven offensive coordinator and a running backs coach as their QB coach.
Of course we should expect changes to be made, and perhaps Glenn hits a home run with some of his new hires, but expect the Raiders, who just fired Pete Carroll, to add an innovative offensive coach. If they don’t, it would be pure lunacy as they look to draft and develop a signal caller at the top of the draft.
And when you’re comparing New York to Las Vegas, you’d be silly to dismiss the millions of dollars a player would lose to state taxes in New York or New Jersey that they could pocket in Vegas.
