In what should be viewed as one of Aaron Glenn’s best coaching hires since taking over at 1 Jets Drive, Karl Dunbar will be returning as the team’s defensive line coach. Dunbar served in that same role under Rex Ryan from 2012 to 2014.
2026 will be Dunbar’s twentieth season as an NFL defensive line coach having previously filled that role with the Bears, Vikings, Bills and Steelers to go along with his aforementioned stint under Rex Ryan.
While working under Ryan, Dunbar was key in developing the likes of Damon “Snacks” Harrison, Mo Wilkerson, Sione Pouha, Mike Devito, and defensive rookie of the year Sheldon Richardson. Now he re-joins the Jets at a time when they have the second overall pick in the draft, which many believe could be spent on a defensive lineman or a player such as Arvell Reese, a hybrid defender who would be spending some time on the edge.
