Jets Hire Seth Ryan as Passing Game Coordinator

Seth Ryan

According to Adam Schefter, Seth Ryan joins the Jets after spending the past several seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he served in multiple offensive assistant roles. His coaching background includes work with wide receivers, tight ends, and offensive game planning at the NFL level.

Seth Ryan is the son of former Jets head coach Rex Ryan, who led the franchise from 2009 through 2014 and guided the team to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances. He is also the grandson of longtime NFL defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan, making him a third-generation NFL coach.

Ryan played wide receiver at Clemson before transitioning into coaching. His NFL experience includes stops with the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions, where he was part of offensive staffs that emphasized modern passing concepts and game-planning structures.

The move is part of a broader restructuring of the Jets coaching staff under head coach Aaron Glenn, as the organization continues to reshape its offensive approach heading into the upcoming season.

Ryan’s role as passing game coordinator will involve assisting with offensive design, weekly game planning, and the development of the Jets aerial attack. The Jets have not announced additional details regarding staff responsibilities or changes related to the hire.
