After setting an NFL record for the most consecutive games lost by 23 or more points, the Jets are clearly prioritizing the defensive side of the ball. Just moments before adding linebacker DeMario Davis for a third stint in Green and White, they added Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare.
Ossai gets a 3-year deal worth $36 million while Enagbare gets $10 million for one year. The pair should fit nicely in what is expected to be a switch to a 3-4 base defense.
Neither has had a ton of production but in Aaron Glenn’s defense, they’ll be asked to beef up the front seven with a pair of high ceiling players who still have some untapped potential.
Both Ossai and Enagbare played in a variety of spots for the Bengals and Packers respectively where they spent time at defensive end and outside linebacker. Expect more of the same under Aaron Glenn as he looks to show of what he called his “superpower” in taking over defensive play calling.
