The Jets have decided to retain another one of their own offensive linemen by re-signing swing tackle Chukwuma Okorafor just days after inking backup guard Xavier Newman and tackle/guard Max Mitchell.
The news on Okorafor comes from Brian Costello of the New York Post.
By bringing back the trio of Okorafor, Newman and Mitchell, the Jets retain three experienced backups who will likely compete with a draft pick or two when training camp kicks off in August. Okorafor came joined the Jets last season after sitting out most of the 2024 season for the Patriots. Of the three, he is the most experienced lineman with 60 starts and a total of 92 games.
In the case of both Mitchell and Newman, they saw very limited reps in 2025 but both have shown improvement during their time in Green and White, so retaining them to compete makes sense for Gang Green.
Having signed free agent guard Dylan Parham, the Jets have five starters under contract in Olu Fashanu, Parham, Josh Myers, Joe Tippmann and Armand Membou.
