News From Today’s Jets Organized Team Activities

The Jets have continued with their voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) this week and today’s practice was open to the media.  Here are some of the highlights:

Second round draft pick wide receiver Stephen Hill continues to impress after making an acrobatic 50 yard catch from Tim Tebow.

Another rookie Quinton Coples has been showing why the Jets used the No.16 pick on him as he stood out in practice getting a quarterback pressure and batting down a pass.

Mark Sanchez marches the offense down the field in 11-on-11 two minute drill but drive stalls as running back Joe McKnight can’t handle an errant throw.

Greg McElroy, not Tim Tebow, quarterbacked the second-team offense in the two minute drill.

Cornerback Antonio Cromartie is working out with the team after missing last week’s practices to spent time with family.

Linebacker David Harris participated fully in drills today after being side-lined last week.

Newly signed offensive tackles Stephen Heyer and Ray Willis were in attendance for their first practice as Jets.

Third round draft pick linebacker Demario Davis saw some action alongside starter David Harris.

Vladimir Ducasse is filling in for left guard Matt Slauson, who is sitting out drills, still nursing a surgically repaired shoulder.

Receivers Jeremy Kerley and Patrick Turner are in attendance but not participating in drills.  They worked on the side possible injury related.

Seventh round draft pick wide receiver Jordan White did not practice due to an injured foot.

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes did not attending OTA’s because he is in Germany meeting with the troops.  This commitment kept Holmes out of last week’s OTAs as well.

Safety LaRon Landry was a no-show at OTAs and has not participated in any voluntary workouts.  Seems likely he won’t be around until mandatory mini-camp, June 12-14.

The Jets remaining OTAs and mini-camp: June 1, June 4, June 6-7; mandatory min-camp (June 12-14).

Today is Hall of Fame and Jets Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Namath’s 69th birthday.
