When the NFL draft wrapped up in Pittsburgh, the Jets started working the phones to add some undrafted free agents, going heavy on offense. In all, Gang Green brought in six players on offense, four on defense and two on special teams. Here’s the full rundown of what we know now, but it’s always important to remember that some of these agreements fall apart before a player puts pen to paper.
RB Chip Trayanum, Toledo:
We loved what we saw from Trayanum in the East/West Shrine game and the follow-up work from that point on was even better. Trayanum is a physical runner who will push the pile, squares up his pads and is always moving forward. He looked comfortable catching the football when asked to do so and has eye-popping contact balance.
WR Caullin Lacy, Louisville:
A six-year college player, Lacy spent time at South Alabama and Louisville. He put over 1,300 yards two years ago at South Alabama and another 635 last season for Louisville.
His best work has come as a return man where he managed 3 punt return TD’s and one as a kick returner. Last season he had his best year on special teams, averaging over 18 yards per punt return and two touchdowns.
OG Xavier Hill, Colorado:
The 6′ 4” 320 lb Hill is an experienced starter who appeared in 43 games for LSU, Memphis and Colorado. He offers a bit of versatility with extensive experience at guard and right tackle. Exactly the kind of player the Jets should be looking for at this point. Hill put up impressive pro day numbers for a 325 lb lineman, running the forty in 4.99 and posting an 8′ 10” broad jump.
According to the folks at PFF, Hill earned a pass block grade of 86.8 while allowing 3 sacks in 2025 and eight for his career in over 1,600 pass block reps.
WR DT Sheffield, Rutgers:
The Jets obviously need some help at wide receiver and if Sheffield gets a look as a slot, he may have a chance to stick. A speedy receiver who shows quickness in and out of his breaks to go along with good explosion off the line to win deep.
Sheffield also showed impressive concentration, managing to come away with the football in traffic or in tight coverage. He played for North Texas in 2024 where he had a career high 822 yards and 11 touchdowns.
TE Chad Curtis, TCU:
A much older prospect after spending six seasons in college, Curtis will turn 27 during the 2026 season. He served primarily as a run blocking tight end with limited production as a pass catcher. Over his six collegiate campaigns he managed just 413 yards on 43 receptions.
RB Sam Scott, Wyoming:
Originally a linebacker for Wyoming, Scott transitioned to running back in 2023 and racked up 1,091 yards on 4.7 per carry over the course of his career. A physically impressive back (9.66 RAS), Scott managed to run an impressive 4.46 40 time to go along with a 40” vertical at 6′ 213 pounds.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Jets surprisingly passed on taking a linebacker in the draft but did grab one as a UDFA.
LB Kendrick Blackshire, UTSA:
Blackshire transferred to UTSA after seeing little playing time during is three years at Alabama. He finally found his way on to the field last season at UTSA and picked up a career high 48 tackles. A powerfully built linebacker, Blackshire also impressed at his pro day, running a 4.51 forty to go along with a 35” vertical at 236 pounds.
Edge Nathan Voorhis, Ball State:
Voorhis had what was the definition of a breakout year in 2025 when he dominated at Ball State and picked up 12 sacks, 17 TFL’s and a pair of forced fumbles. Prior to that he hadn’t managed a single sack in two seasons at UConn where he barely got on the field.
He did have some success against bigger programs, picking up sacks against Auburn and Purdue. It’s hard to imagine Voorhis won’t stick around on the practice squad at the very least. And he should work up a friendship with Jets tight end Jeremy Ruckert based on this photo he posted after agreeing to sign with the Jets.
CB Mory Bamba, BYU:
The Jets may not have drafted a taller DB to fit what Aaron Glenn looks for, but they sure added one after the draft. BYU corner Mory Bamba checks in at 6′ 3” and reportedly ran a 40 at his pro day that would have rivaled that of Xavier Worthy’s record-breaking 4.21. Some sources at his pro day claim they had him at 4.19. Sounds far-fetched, but his reported time of 4.27 isn’t exactly concerning.
PK Will Ferrin, BYU:
Kicker is currently one of the biggest concerns on the Jets roster so they addressed it by bringing in Will Ferrin who hit on 88.9% of his field goal attempts (24-27) two seasons ago before it dipped to 76.7% in going 23-30.
LS Garrison Grimes, BYU:
Grimes comes in as the only long snapper ever to score a perfect 10.00 on his relative athletic scoring (RAS). He’ll have a chance to compete with long-time incumbent Thomas Hennessy.
