Mike Westhoff To Return As Special Teams Coordinator

Rich Cimini of the NY Daily News is reporting that Mike Westhoff will return to the NY Jets as their Special Teams Coordinator.  Westhoff who retired last year due to health issues left with an open door.  Nobody expected his return to happen this soon after his surgery earlier this year.

The Jets signed Kevin O’Dea who was an assistant with the Bears to fill the special teams role.  After a strong run in free agency and having won the Brett Favre sweepstakes, the Jets feel that they should leave no stone unturned in making this team better.  By bring back Westhoff, widely regarded as being one of the best special team coaches in the game, that is exactly what they are doing.
