The Jets’ season hasn’t even been over for a month and we already have seem a number of coaching changes being made. First off, Corwin Brown left to become the Defensive Coordinator at Notre Dame. Also, Richie Anderson left the Jets to join Ken Whisenhunt and Co. in the yearly rebuilding project that is the Arizona Cardinals. Anderson was the assistant running backs / wide receivers coach here in New York but in Arizona he will gain the role as running backs coach, an upgrade for the long time former Jet.
Veteran Defensive Line coach Denny Marcin stepped down as the lead man coaching the Defensive Line and young, well coveted coach Dan Quinn, will be replacing him.
Quinn, 36, spent the previous two seasons under former Dolphins coach Nick Saban in Miami. While with the Dolphins serving as the assistant Defensive Line coach, the defense finished 18th and 4th overall in the league and recorded 48 sacks a season.
The sack department is something the Jets were lacking on in the defensive line last season, something obviously that gave Quinn the upper hand in replacing Marcin. Prior to joining Saban in Miami, Quinn coached six seasons in college football before joining the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive staff in 2001.
Last but not least, despite previous reports, former Jet LB Bryan Cox will remain with the Jets as rumors were circulating that he would bolt to Arizona with Anderson. Cox has said he will remain with the team.
