Jets Mess With Texans, Defeat Houston
The Jets improved their record to 6 and 5 today by beating the Houston Texans 26 – 11. The Jets struggled to run the ball (27 yards total) but were led by a strong passing game, solid special teams play and another excellent defensive effort.
Chad Pennington fell just short of 300 yards passing. Laveranues Coles had 111 yards and a TD, while Jerricho Cotchery had 110 yards receiving. The lack of a running game did not slow down the offense thanks in large part to Mike Nugent. Nugent had his best day as a pro making all four of his field goal attempts, including a career long from 54 yards. His kickoffs also seemed noticeably stronger as well.
The defense had 4 sacks and only allowed 25 rushing yards. Kerry Rhodes had an interception and the NY Jets defense continued their resurgence which began after the bye week. Stay tuned for the JetNation Report Card.
