Jets Announce Camp Plans (Finally)

Well the Jets finally got around to announcing where they will be practicing this summer.  They have received plenty of criticism over their plans to not hold camp in Florham Park like it was originally believed.  Instead they will be holding camp everywhere.  Well, just about everywhere.  Upstate NY, Florham Park NJ and Long Island.

The New York Jets announced today that they will open to the public five June minicamp practices as part of a week of activities at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, NJ, beginning June 6.

The Jets also announced that their 2009 training camp will feature practices open to the public in three different locations throughout the tristate area — upstate New York, Long Island and New Jersey.

As esteemed JetNation.com poster Sperm Edwards points out, “How the hell does this generate “millions in economic activity for Central New York”?  The estimate does seem pretty generous.  At any rate, the Jets have seem intent on trying to make everyone happy.  Rex Ryan gets his secluded camp in Upstate NY and the NJ and Long Island fan base can watch some practices without having to drive several hours.

You can discuss this and see fan reaction in our forums.
