Jets Resign CB Marquice Cole

The New York Jets have signed CB Marquice Cole from the practice squad and waived TE Matthew Mulligan. The announcements were made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Cole (5’10”, 190) signed with the Jets as a free agent on Feb. 19. He was inactive at Houston before being waived on Sept. 15 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 16. Cole was originally signed by Oakland as a rookie free agent on May 4, 2007, and was waived by the Raiders on Sept. 1, 2007. He also spent time on the Tennessee and New Orleans practice squads.

Mulligan (6’4″, 270) was claimed by the Jets off waivers from Tennessee on Sept. 6. He signed with the Titans practice squad on Nov. 19, 2008. Mulligan entered the NFL with Miami as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2008, and spent the first nine weeks of the 2008 season on the Dolphins’ practice squad before being released. In two seasons at Maine, he recorded 23 receptions for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
