NY Jets Trade For CB Antonio Cromartie

The New York Jets aren’t wasting any time improving the roster for the 2010 season.  They have announced that they have acquired, via a trade with the San Diego Chargers, Cornerback Antonio Cromartie.  He will start opposite Pro-Bowl CB Darrelle Revis.  The New York Jets released CB Lito Sheppard yesterday.

Cromartie (6’2″, 210) was a 1st round draft pick in 2006, 19th overall.  He has 15 career interceptions (10 in 2007).  He has had off the field issues.  According to his Wikipedia page:

Antonio Cromartie has seven children living in five states, and has been named in at least five paternity suits in the past two years.

Jay Glazer reported that the Jets will give up a high 2011 draft pick.  It hasn’t been announced yet but Glazer said that it will be either a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
