As is the case in the off-season, when there is less going on, some topics get passed around often. The flavor of the past few days? Jason Taylor. There are several topics about him in the JetNation fan forum. ESPN.com ran an article last night saying that Taylor is meeting with the Jets for a second straight day:
Free-agent linebacker Jason Taylor, a six-time Pro Bowl pick with the Miami Dolphins, met with the New York Jets for a second straight day Thursday as coach Rex Ryan tried to add the NFL’s active sacks leader to last season’s top-ranked defense.
“Hopefully we can bring him along for the ride,” linebacker Calvin Pace said. “I think it would be a great situation for him.”
The 35-year-old Taylor, who was in town with his wife, Katina, left for home and was expected to take until this weekend at the earliest before deciding on whether to sign with New York. The general feeling around the Jets’ locker room is that Taylor is very interested in joining the team, sources told ESPNNewYork.com’s Jane McManus.
Fireman Ed also had some choice words for Jason Taylor. It looks like the Jets are interested in bringing Taylor to NY. If (or when) that happens, the Jets PR team will have their hands full. Taylor is not popular amongst Jets fans and how they try to sell the move to the fan base will be worth watching.
