Jets Sign Kia, Waive Green and Stommes

The New York Jets have signed free agent offensive tackle Aaron Kia and have waived wide receiver S.J. Green and tackle Matt Stommes. The announcement was made by general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Kia (6’5″, 290) played four years for the University of Hawaii, starting 24 of 42 games for the Warriors after redshirting in 2005.

Green (6’3″, 220) originally signed with the Jets as a free agent on Jan. 8. He played the past three seasons with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL, catching 26 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns. In his career at the University of South Florida, he had 63 receptions and four touchdowns.

Stommes (6’6″, 311) signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent on April 30. He played in 18 games with five starts during his career at Minnesota.
