Various media sources are reporting that the New York Jets have signed Left Tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson to a contract extension.  Manish Mehta is reporting it on Twitter.

Breaking: jets have come to an agreement on contract extension with d’brickashaw ferguson, according to league source.

Rod Boone from Newsday.com:

We interrupt the LeBronathon (and vacation) for big news. League source says D’Brickashaw Ferguson has agreed to a contract extension. #Jets

Randy Lange also has a blog post about the extension on NYJets.com.  You can consider it official once the Jets put it on their site, even though the Jets have not officially confirmed the move.  D’Brick handled these negotiations the same way he carries himself, quietly.  No demands to the media, no threats or outbursts.  As we have always said, these things are best handled behind closed doors.

No terms of the deal have been released yet.  Once that information is available it will be updated in the discussion thread.

Edit 2:10pm Eastern –

Sirius NFL Radio is reporting that the deal breaks down this way:

  • 6 year – 60 million dollar extension
  • 34.8 million in guaranteed money
  • He had 2 years left on his original deal so this becomes an 8 year, 73.6 million dollar contract
