Jets Sign LB David Herron And LB Eddie Jones

The New York Jets have signed LB David Herron and LB Eddie Jones. The announcements were made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Herron (6-1/239/Michigan State/Warren, OH), has played 28 games with three starts over four NFL seasons. He has posted eight tackles on defense and 20 tackles on special teams. Last season, Herron saw action in two games with the San Diego Chargers before being waived on November 22, 2010. He signed with the Chargers on October 26, after being waived by Kansas City on September 4, 2010. Herron spent 2009 with the Chiefs and 2008 with Minnesota. Herron entered the league in 2007 as an undrafted free agent of the Vikings and also spent time with the New England Patriots that season.
Jones (6-3/260/Texas/Kilgore, TX), joins the Jets as an undrafted free agent. He saw action in 50 games at Texas, starting eight, and totaled 111 tackles and 13 sacks during his career. Jones was named All Big-12 honorable mention as a senior in 2010 after he notched 52 tackles, six sacks, 10 tackles for loss and one forced fumble. An All-American at Kilgore High School, he participated in the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
