Time For Rex Ryan To Silence His Players
Another day, another media firestorm caused by a Jets player discussing chemistry issues in the locker room. Wednesday’s “story of the day” was generated by rookie quarterback Greg McElroy who shared some very strong opinions about the Jets locker room. McElroy offered:
“It’s the first time I’ve ever been around extremely selfish individuals. I think that’s maybe the nature of the NFL. But there were people within our lockerroom that didn’t care whether we won or loss… as long as they got their… they really had a good game individually. And that’s the disappointing thing. It’s going to take a lot to kind of come together next year. I think the fact that we struggled at times this year really led to a really corrupt mindset within the locker room. But I think we’re going to regroup and I know that we’ll be a better team because of the trials and tribulations this year.”
These are some harsh words from a rookie player and I can only imagine how the veterans on the team are going to react to this. With that being said I think it is time for Rex Ryan to put some type of gag order on his players. Enough is enough with this teammate bashing and it is time to unite forces.
Rex Ryan should implement some type of media policy that limits the type of quotes that will create dissension in the locker room. It is one thing to be a player’s coach, it is another to foster a circus like environment.
It is time for a change Rex before you truly lose control of your locker room.
