NY Jets Minicamp Day 1 Report
The Jets completed their first minicamp practice on Tuesday and the entire squad was present, minus Mike Goodson. Willie Colon was seen on the bike as he recovers from knee surgery. Mike Goodson was nowhere to be found and Rex Ryan said, “That situation will be dealt with”. Which is code for, he is going to be fined. Rex Ryan told the media that nobody from the Jets has spoken with Goodson. Even if he was present, it wouldn’t change how everyone would bet on the jets this football season. Mike’s days with the team are certainly numbered.
On the field, we should start with the quarterbacks. Brian Costello does and excellent job as always when it comes to breaking down the QB stats.
Forgot to tweet my final QB numbers from today: Geno 7-for-11 with a sack. Vick 6-for 9 with 2 sacks. #nyj

You can’t read too much into QB stats while they are wearing read jerseys.
With Colon out the starting offensive live was D’Brickashaw Ferguson (LT) – Oday Aboushi (LG) – Nick Mangold (C) – Brian Winters (RG) and Bren Giacomini (RT). Colon stressed again that he will be ready for the start of training camp.
Chris Johnson will participate in individual drills and Rex Ryan says they will take their time with Johnson.
There were varying reports on the wide receivers. We will be at practice on Wednesday, so we will hold off on commenting until we can see for ourselves.
Of note in the secondary:
- Pryor and Allen at starting safety
- It was a good day for Dexter McDougle. He signed his contract and Rex Ryan praised him after practice
Various reports said that it was a sloppy practice and penalty push ups are back.
Rex on all the penalty pushups: "Yeah … It got ugly." #Jets
