Geno Smith will be inactive for today’s game against the Chiefs, which means Matt Simms will be backing up Mike Vick.
Other inactives are: TJ Barnes, IK Enemkpali, Walt Powell, Dakota Dozier, Darrin Walls, and Wesley Johnson
The depleted secondary got even more paper thin with 0ut Walls suiting up, this means either Phillip Adams, Josh Thomas, or Marcus Williams will be starting at corner for the Jets today. It could also easily be a rotation of the three.
Barnes hasn’t seen much time, but why rotate a group that already has so much success?
IK Enemkpali has only seen 6 snaps on defense this season, not exactly getting a chance to show what he can do. If the Jets continue to struggle though he could end up seeing more playing time.
Both backup offensive linemen Dakota Dozier and Wesley Johnson are inactive. Most likely Dozier will have a red shirt rookie season, and Johnson was just recently brought in due to Brian Winter’s injury.
The Jets are 1-7 with all hopes of a postseason virtually gone. Will they finish strong, or finish the season irrelevant hoping for a high draft pick?
