Plenty of Positives to Take from Jets 27-23 Win Despite Drop in Draft Slot

Sam Darnold, Josh Allen

The Jets upset the Buffalo Bills 27-23 on Sunday which was  a good thing for Sam Darnold and company. They overcame an early deficit and Sam Darnold had several “firsts”. He played in the cold and won. He engineered a 4th quarter comeback. It was also Darnold’s first win over an AFC East opponent. Apparently not everyone was thrilled with the win.  A loss would have given the Jets the number one overall pick in the draft with three weeks to go. We know that those who took the Jets in online NFL betting ended up pretty happy with the outcome. Was the win worth it? We understand the frustration but only to a degree. This season has gone poorly, but the season is still and has always been about Sam Darnold. How can you not be happy about everything that happened last Sunday. This is a game that Darnold had no business winning. A 21 year old risky coming back on the road after a month layoff.  Draft picks are less important than the continued development of the rookie quarterback who made some fantastic throws on Sunday.

How about the big scramble on the touchdown pass? Or Robby Anderson’s big day? Darron Lee was also suspended last week. We discuss all this and more on this week’s episode of JetNation Radio.
