Jets Release Osemele, Promote Burgess From Practice Squad

And the other shoe has dropped.  After a very public back-and-forth media battle between the Jets and offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele, the Jets have released the offensive lineman.

Osemele had shoulder surgery on Friday that was not approved by the team after the team continued to fine Osemele for missing practices due to a shoulder injury.  Osemele claimed he was advised by multiple doctors to undergo shoulder surgery while the Jets claimed he had been cleared to play.

Earlier today it was reported that Osemele was planning legal action against the team’s doctors and fans should expect that to carry on after his release.

Replacing Osemele on the roster is veteran inside linebacker James Burgess with the Jets thin at the position.
