Jets Ready to let Douglas Spend in Second Season at the Helm
After an offseason of penny pinching a year ago, it appears Jets GM Joe Douglas will be let loose to spend as he sees fit in the coming days and weeks of free agency.
According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, Douglas has been given the “green light” to attack the offseason however he likes.
There is absolutely no financial restriction on Douglas this offseason, per sources. He has means & green light to build team however he wants.
That means pursuing top-tier FAs and giving them top-tier $, if he wants.

Even with this being the case, it’s unlikely Douglas will pursue more than a couple of big name free agents along the lines of Joe Thuney and Carl Lawson as the number of holes on his roster won’t allow for a huge crop of players that will quickly eat through his $70 million in cap space.
Douglas could look to create more cap space by cutting ties with the likes of Alex Lewis and Greg Van Roten which will become a more likely decision if the team manages to land Thuney, who is regarded by many as the player the Jets should be most interested in.
