Three Teams on Upset Alert in NFL Week 10

NFL

Last week we saw several examples of teams that were supposed to win on paper but lost on the field of play. Let’s peruse the Week 10 NFL odds and pick three games where there looks to be an upset in the making.

Detroit Lions vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday, November 14, 2021 – 1:00 PM ET at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA

It’s hard to throw good money at bad teams but if you bet the Jaguars last week, you’d be smiling this week. Upsets happen and that’s why we’re here because we want you to make money on the big dogs that the public abhors.

Speaking of the public, how do they do season after season? Like lambs to the slaughter so before you laugh at the Lions hanging and banging – and maybe even upsetting the Steelers – you should consider that Pittsburgh is working on a short week after their 29-27 squeaker over the Bears on Monday night. We should also note that the line is rather steep on a team that is ranked 23rd in points scored, averaging 20.1 points per game.

Pittsburgh is being installed as a 9-point home favorite, but don’t expect them to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for this one as they not only played on Monday night but could very well be looking past Detroit and ahead to a showdown with the Chargers in LA. Grab the points and put a few bucks on the Lions getting their first win of the season….or at least covering the number

Upset Alert: Lions +9 (-110) or +320 on the money line at BetOnline

Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys

Sunday, November 14, 2021 – 1:00 PM ET at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

Raise your hand if you saw all your hopes and dreams flushed down the toilet by including the Cowboys in your Week 9 survivor pool. Certainly, the Broncos 30-16 booty bashing of the Cowboys ranked as one of the most unexpected upsets last week but it was all the more shocking because Dak Prescott had returned and the Broncos had just traded away their most ferocious pass rusher, Von Miller.

“The message is don’t take the cheese, and frankly we were outcoached, we were outplayed all the way through,” Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said. “This is the first time I’ve felt clearly our energy didn’t exceed our opponent. That’s disappointing.”

Something’s wrong with Dak, the Dallas offensive line, and the defense. They may right the ship eventually but they are getting the Falcons at a time when their offense looked as good as it has all season in their 27-25 win over the Saints. We say, if the mojo is there, take advantage of it. And while you’re at it, make sure you check out BMR’s NFL Week 10 Parlay!

Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Sunday, November 14, 2021 – 4:05 PM ET at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA

The Vikings might be the best 3-5 team in the league. They have lost by an average margin of 3 ½ points per game with two of those losses coming via overtime, including last week’s 34-31 setback to the Ravens. And consider the quality of those opponents; Bengals, Cardinals, Browns, Cowboys, and Ravens. Not exactly cupcakes, right?

The Chargers have lost two of their last three and you can almost feel the season slipping away. Sure, they are still 5-3 on the year but they are meeting the Vikings at the wrong time for them. The line on this NFC tilt shows the Bolts as 2 ½ to 3-point favorites, which is essentially saying that if it were not for the venue, this game would be a coin flip.

Let’s watch the Vikings cruise and get a badly needed victory to stay in contention for a wildcard berth in the NFC.

Upset Alert: Vikings +3 (-120) or +120 on the money line at Bovada
