Douglas claimed offensive lineman Nete Herbig off of waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles, giving themselves a 23-year-old versatile lineman who has been a solid performer at both guard spots through his young career. Herbig has also played a handful of snaps at center where he was one of the top collegiate recruits coming out of high school.
With the Eagles loaded along the interior, Herbig asked to be let go and the Eagles granted him his wish. Now Mike Kaye is reporting the Jets decision to claim Herbig.
A Stanford University product, Herbig’s arrival could spell the end of Greg Van Roten’s time with the Jets as the younger Herbig would likely take his spot on the depth chart.
