Is Al Woods going to be yet another interior defensive lineman to snub Joe Douglas and the Jets this off-season? The Jets certainly hope not as they plan on meeting with the defensive tackle in hopes of filling a gaping hole on their defensive line.
Just a couple of weeks ago we suggested the Jets make a call to his teammate Shelby Harris, but it seems the Jets would prefer Woods.
A veteran of twelve seasons, Woods has spent time with the Seahawks, Bucs, Steelers and Colts. Having spent most of his career as a rotational player, Woods has started 30 contests over his past two seasons en route to picking up 89 tackles (9 for loss) and 3.5 sacks.
Woods would be a nice compliment to Quinnen Williams on the inside to replace the departed Sheldon Rankins who left to sign a new deal with the Houston Texans. The Jets also lost backup tackle Nathan Shepherd this offseason so finding some big men up front is a priority.
