Aaron Rodgers Added to Jets 53-man Roster, Bawden let go

Aaron Rodgers - Zach Wilson

Aaron Rodgers has been added to the Jets 53-man roster so that he can continue practicing with the team as the 2023 season winds down to a close. This move comes after Rodgers announced just a couple of days ago that he would not be cleared to suit up this year. The addition of Rodgers has stirred up considerable interest among fans and bettors alike, with notable shifts in betting lines at various NY sportsbooks, reflecting the uncertainty and excitement surrounding his situation. As the Jets navigate the closing weeks of the season, the impact of Rodgers mentoring and experience is expected to be a focal point for fans and bettors, as opposed to the original thought of him leading the Jets to the end zone. This does add an intriguing layer to the team’s narrative as they look towards the future.

Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday to discuss his situation.

To make room for Rodgers, the Jets are parting with fullback Nick Bawden.

In Bawden, the Jets are letting go of a part-time player who wasn’t particularly effective when he was on the field.  Having played double-digit snaps just three times this season, Bawden’s absence won’t be noticeable on game day.  In fact, the Jets may be better served asking Jeremy Ruckert to take over Bawden’s role.
