Garrett Wilson Torches Commanders DB’s in Joint Practice

Garrett Wilson

The Washington Commanders made the trip out to 1 Jets Drive ahead of their Saturday night meeting with the Jets and Garrett Wilson put on a show.

According to those in attendance, Garrett Wilson was literally unstoppable.  It seems the only time he didn’t score or make a big catch was when the QB made a poor throw or Wilson was ruled out of bounds.

Speaking of QB’s making throws, veteran backup Tyrod Taylor was the one doing most of the damage with Wilson, hitting him on several deep shots down the field.  There was no Aaron Rodgers today due to poor weather.

A few notes:

  • Tyron Smith did his thing in limited reps at left tackle.  After a few days off this week, Smith opening up a huge running lanes for Breece Hall who would score on a 20 yard run.
  • Will McDonald had a would be sack and at least one other pressure off the edge.  A good day for the second-year defender.
  • After giving up multiple sacks in the team’s Green and White practice the other day, rookie tackle Olu Fashanu surrendered one today but otherwise looked very good.
  • The defense dominated.  Washington had a hard time getting anything going on offense as the Jets secondary and pass rush overwhelmed the Commanders.
  • Sauce Gardner had a big pass break up on 4th down and 15 to kill a Commanders two minute drive.

The Jets will next get ready to take on the Commanders in the pre-season debut at MetLife Stadium.
