Jets get Their guy; Aaron Glenn to Take Over as Head Coach

Aaron Glenn

Aaron Glenn is coming back to New York with a bit more responsibility than he had last time around.  Formerly an elite cornerback for Bill Parcells and the Jets, Glenn is set to take over as the newest head coach for Woody Johnson and company.

Glenn met with the Jets yesterday before returning to Detroit with many believing the job was his if he wanted it.  And clearly he did.

Johnson definitely has a type when it comes to head coaches, and Glenn fits that mold.

Having only ever hired defensive coaches (Adam Gase was a Chris Johnson hire), Johnson hands the reins over to Glenn, who had previously been the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.  Glenn is also a first-time head coach which Johnson clearly prefers.

The biggest questions for Aaron Glenn at this point in time is who he’ll bring with him, specifically on offense.  There are rumors abound that he’ll target former Jets quarterback Mark Brunell who would be a first-time play caller.

Another possibility is former Chiefs head coach Todd Haley.  There will be no shortage of names floating around from speculators in the coming days and it may not be long before some hires start coming in.
