Jets Select Malachi Moore in the 4th Round of the NFL Draft

Malachi Moore

The New York Jets continued to add to their secondary on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, selecting Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore in the 4th round. They traded up with the Eagles to make this selection. Moore brings versatility, leadership, and big-game experience from one of college football’s premier programs.

Moore, a four-year contributor for the Alabama defense, lined up all over the field during his time there — playing safety, nickel corner, and even some outside corner when needed. His football IQ and ability to read offenses stood out during the pre-draft process, making him an intriguing depth piece for the Jets’ defensive backfield.

The Jets have been looking for players who can contribute right away on special teams while developing into bigger roles. Moore checks both boxes. He was a team captain at Alabama, showing the type of character Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh value inside the locker room.

Given the depth chart, adding a smart, versatile player like Moore makes a ton of sense. He’ll compete for a key role on special teams right away, while providing valuable depth in the secondary.
