Having to make room for their newly acquired pair of defensive tackles in Jowon Briggs and Harrison Phillips, the Jets parted ways with defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis and placed edge rusher Rashad Weaver on season ending IR.
The Weaver move may not resonate with most fans but the Jets likely envisioned him as one of their top backups coming off the edge.
The team also let go of defensive back Ryan Cooper. Added just a few weeks ago, Cooper saw extensive action through the first two weeks of the preseason but now moves on.
