In life, including in sports, anything can change. The future is unpredictable for all of us. When it comes to the sports world, many things can change rapidly. Examples include teams moving from one city to another, changing names, or moving into a new stadium. Another example is the Chicago Bears potentially moving their stadium into Indiana. As that is going on for the Bears, it may not happen for the NY Jets, but will it happen in the future?
Well, as of right now, there have been no talks of potentially moving out of MetLife Stadium. However, there have been reports about owner Woody Johnson desiring a private, team-owned stadium. Also, a NY lawmaker suggested that the Jets should move to a new stadium in Willets Point, Queens. There has been interest from some about a move, but it won’t be easy.
If the team wanted to move out of MetLife, it would hurt financially. To build a new private stadium, the cost would be over 2-3 billion dollars. Not only is it a financial problem, but there is a lack of available land. The team will most likely be staying at their home turf due to the big investments already made at MetLife Stadium.
It looks like the NY Jets won’t be going anywhere for a long time. If you are a Jets or Giants fan, enjoy the shared stadium because the future is unpredictable. The possibility of the franchise moving is not off the table and could eventually happen. As the years go on, there will be many talks about what is best for the team. Who knows, maybe a new stadium would bring a fresh start for this franchise. Let’s hope for a better future, JetNation!
This is always a hot topic in our Jets forum.
