Last year, I wanted the NY Jets to get a top 3 draft pick entering a year that was supposed to have a few top quarterbacks. We got the #2 pick, and with the vengeance of the Gods, the anticipated QB class mostly fell apart.
Despite a tank, I did want the Jets to play competitive football under Aaron Glenn and end the year stronger than they began.
Fast forward to this year:
- An entertaining Offense that stretches the field to score points even if they give up the occasional pick (which quite frankly, might be similar to a 30-40 yard net punt)
- An aggressive Defense with a no name mentality that dominates against the run, tackles well, and uses pressure to force QBs into bad decisions that lead to turnovers
- A team that is still in the playoff hunt entering December … even if making the playoffs is still too tall an order
- Have everyone who doubted him, issue a humbling apology to Darren Mougey after David Bailey runs away with Defensive Rookie of the Year
- Maybe most importantly– the Colts, Cowboys and/or Packers lose a lot of games
That’s my wish list for the 2026 Jets. Competitive football, an aggressive defense, an offense that isn’t afraid to take chances, and meaningful games when December rolls around. A David Bailey award would be a nice bonus, and a few extra losses from teams whose draft picks are headed to the Jets certainly wouldn’t hurt.
