Jets Acquire RB Kevan Barlow
The San Francisco 49ers have announced that they traded RB Kevan Barlow to the NY Jets for an undisclosed draft pick. Barlow will have to travel to NY and pass a physical before the trade is official.Â
Barlow is a former 3rd round pick who has played his entire career with the 49ers. His best season was in 2003 when he surpassed 1,000 yards rushing and averaged over 5 yards per carry. He was slowed in 2004 with a knee injury that landed him on I.R. and was a victim of the 49ers depth at running back.Â
This is the Jets second attempt at bringing in a new starting RB, having previously acquired Lee Suggs from Cleveland. Suggs failed his physical and the trade was canceled. It has become apparent that Eric Mangini is not comfortable with the options he has in front of him since Curtis has been on the P.U.P. list. If Barlow passes his physical this will most likely mean that either Derrick Blaylock or Cedric Houston will not make the final roster.Â
