Jets Make Roster Moves – 09/20/06
The New York Jets announced they have signed tight end Zach Hilton and waived fullback Jamar Martin. The team also signed defensive tackle Matt McChesney to their practice squad and waived offensive lineman Isaac Snell from their practice squad. The announcements were made by Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Hilton, 6-8, 268, returns to the Jets after being waived on September 14. Hilton is in his fourth NFL season out of the University of North Carolina. Last season, the former New Orleans Saints’ undrafted free agent, gained 396 yards on 35 receptions with one touchdown.
McChesney, 6-4, 307, was originally an undrafted free agent by the St. Louis Rams. The University of Colorado product and Santa Cruz, California native, was signed to the Jets’ practice squad last season and saw action in three contests, recording three solo tackles.
Martin was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Dolphins from 2002-03, and then moved on to the Dallas Cowboys (2004-05), before signing with the New Orleans Saints. He was released by the Saints on August 10, and claimed on waivers by the Jets on August 11. The former Ohio State Buckeye has played in 25 career NFL games, including two this season with the Jets. In those contests, he has made two starts and has four carries for seven yards and six receptions for 24 yards.

Snell was originally signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2005. Last season, the North Dakota State University product did not play in the two games in which he was active. This season, he was released after training camp, and later re-signed to the practice squad.
