Jets Make Statement, Beat Bills
The Jets were on the road. They were playing a winning team. Recent history tells us those factors don’t usually work out well for the Jets. This week they stepped up and beat the Bills to improve to 5 and 3. The Jets played an excellent game all around and settled down after some early mistakes and pulled off the upset.
Defensively the Jets continued their transformation. They stopped the run once again and Kris Jenkins was a force (5 tackles – 2 sacks). They had 5 sacks as a team and held the Buffalo running backs to 31 yards on 16 carries. Abram Elam took advantage of his opportunity by picking off a Trent Edwards pass and returned it for a touchdown. Darelle Revis picked off an Edwards pass as well.
On offense, the Jets spent most of the day taking what the defense gave them and avoided costly mistakes. The only exception was a 4th quarter interception by Jabari Greer that he returned for a touchdown. It came on 1st down and cut the Jets lead to 6 points. The Jets were able to regroup and drove down the field for a late field goal that sealed the game. Favre threw for 201 yards and started off slow but was able to drive down the field using mostly short passes. Thomas Jones had several big runs
Leon Washington continues to be a very important part of this team especially on special teams. He had the incredible vision to make sure he was out of bounds when he picked up a kickoff inside the 15 yard line. That move gave the Jets valuable field position and changed their starting position to the 40 yard line. Jay Feely missed another kick and has everyone thinking, how is Mike Nugent feeling?
