Eric Mangini’s hatred for Bill Belichick seems to be endless. After earlier victories by the Patriots and Ravens, the Jets were eliminated from playoff contention. With a win over the Miami Dolphins, the Jets would have been responsible for sending the New England Patriots to the playoffs.
Mr. Mangini will have none of that. So he rallied the troops before the half and let them know it was in the best interest of the franchise for them to lose this game. It wasn’t easy, but the Jets managed to do it led by Brett Favre’s 3 interceptions (one was returned for a touchdown before the half).
You don’t believe me? How else can you explain Chad Pennington winning a big December game at the Meadowlands? Give it some time and my explanation will make perfect sense. The Jets faced a lose – lose proposition and they made the best of it by screwing over Bill Belichick.
