Jets Trade For QB
The Jets made a trade today with the Detroit Lions to bring in ex-Patriot QB Kevin O’Connell. O’Connell was recently waived by the New England Patriots and the Jets had put in a claim for him. He was awarded to Detroit based on them having a worse record less season. He was originally drafted by New England in the third round on the 2008 draft (94th overall).
Jets acquired QB Kevin O’Connell from the Lions in exchange for undisclosed compensation.
Detroit did a nice job of getting something for nothing here; GM Martin Mayhew is using his No. 1 waiver priority wisely. From the Jets’ perspective, the move may signal the end of the Kellen Clemens experiment. Erik Ainge was more productive in preseason games. O’Connell will likely be third string.
We agree that this is not good news for Kellen Clemens. The organization is very high on Erik Ainge so it looks like Kellen could be the odd man out here. Click here for more news and to see the fan reaction.
