The New York Jets have signed free agent RB Danny Woodhead to the practice squad and released FB Jehuu Caulcrick from the practice squad. The announcement was made by Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Woodhead, whose 226 yards paced the Jets in the preseason, was released by the club over the weekend. He originally signed with the Jets on May 1, 2008 as an undrafted free agent out of Chadron State and spent last season on injured reserve after injuring his knee early in training camp. Woodhead, who averaged five yards per attempt this summer, rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in the preseason finale vs. Philadelphia last Thursday.
The 6’0″, 250-pound Caulcrick attended Michigan State University and signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2008. Caulcrick spent the 2008 season on the practice squad, was released by the Jets at their recent cutdown date and then added to the practice squad.
