Jets Waive Justin Miller
When Leon Washington suffered a season ending injury, the Jets reached out to Just Miller and signed him to the active roster. The thought was he could provide some explosiveness and handle the kickoff duty. Justin Miller was an excellent punt returner in college and that is another position of need for the New York Jets right now.
Despite a very small sample (5 returns, 1 game, 23 yard average), the Jets waived Justin Miller yesterday. What does that mean? It means when Special Teams Coach Mike Westhoff makes up his mind, there is no changing it. He obvioulsy didn’t like what he saw and the Jets will now handle kickoffs with players currently on their roster (Lowery, Clowney).
